Dear parish families and patrons of our Church Seafood Dinner,
I hope you and your loved ones are well. I write with much sadness to inform you of our church dinner being cancelled again this year. This decision was a difficult one, since I know many of you are big supporters and looking forward to our church dinner every August. Many uncertainties and factors come into consideration, such as the health and safety of everyone with the new Delta variant of Covid19 in St. Mary’s County, crab meat limited availability, and triple in prices on crab meat, other supplies also heighten in costs. St. George Catholic Church’s seafood dinner is well-known for always using Chesapeake blue crab meat. We do not compromise the quality of our crab cakes using cheaper imported crabmeat. For these reasons and the recommendations of the “August Church Dinner” team, the most prudent thing to do is to forgo the dinner this year. I hope and pray we can resume next year. I would like to thank Johnny Adams, Patricia Bowes, the Knights of Columbus (Fr. Sebastien De Rose Council), Tammy Wasinchism, for their leadership, dedication, price search and research these past months. Also, our gratitude and appreciation to all parishioners and volunteers for your willingness to help and support our church dinner. May the Lord bless you and keep you in His unfailing Love.
